This 1/4'' stainless steel motorized ball valve from U.S. Solid comes in a water safe stainless steel. It is a great option for the DIY project, but strong enough for big businesses. The stem and body of the valve are comprised of SS304 stainless steel, which is safe for drinking water. This is key, since many people use these valves in their home water systems.
The valve actuates with 9-24V of AC or DC power. When energized, it will open fully in 3-5 seconds. Since this valve is a normally closed (N/C) ball valve, it will automatically return to a closed position when the power source is eliminated. When fully opened, a limit switch keeps the amount of power used by the valve to a miniscule levels. This makes it a much more environmentally friendly option than most solenoid valves. Most solenoid valves are fully energized when opened, which can lead to problems and overheating when run continuously. This valve draws such low levels of power once fully opened that it can be run continuously and never overheat.
The stem on this valve comes with a robust torque rating of 2 N m. This is important, though often overlooked. The stem is a frequent point of failure for valves, and having a strong stem helps to ensure a of quality performance.
There are many different potential uses for this motorized ball valve. While not quick acting, it is sturdy and resilient once energized. They can also work effectively even with gravity flow operations, such as those used in some auxiliary fuel tank setups.
