Description
8" Half Round Shear Tooth -Files are use on aluminum, copper, brass and similar metals. However, these are hard files with the same heat treat of normal Nicholson Files. They may also be used on cast iron and steel.
They remove metal
rapidly
and leave a smooth finish. They are single cut with a long angle. Anyone that has used a Long Angle Lathe file knows what the file will do. These files cut very aggressively. Take a look at the pictures on the tooth construction angles. This file was manufactured in the USA I would say in the late 50's or early 60's. Manufactured in plants long ago shut down.
File is made from C10-130 carbon steel. Also, no longer available. Some of the last Quality Nicholson file you can purchase.
Generally used by machinists, engineers and repair men and because of the section being
rounded on one side and flat on the other are extremely useful files.
The filing of lead, Aluminum, brass, copper, bronze and similar metals require a special type file. File is hardened to the same specification as normal files. So, it will file steel even wood. Only light pressure is needed to file the metal.
