Rotary File Hand Cut Style C7-M 1/2 Dia. Ball Shape Made in USA NEW 1/4 shank.
As their name indicates, hand cut rotary files are cut by an expert hand-cutter, using a hammer and a chisel to cut or form each tooth. Although he may have a blueprint to guide him, the hand-cutter depends upon his ability to hold the chisel at just the correct angle and to strike a blow of just the right force. Because the teeth of hand cut rotary files are “broken up” in contrast to the “unbroken flutes” of the ground bur, they are better fitted for work on tough and dense metals. These teeth seem to dissipate the heat created by the friction of the file on this type of material. Therefore they are recommended for steel forgings, or any scaly tough dense surface or metal. - Rotary files are widely used in die sinking, metal pattern making, mold finishing, tool making, and finishing small and intricate parts. In such work they are used for breaking and chamfering corners, removing burs and fins; for elongating holes and slots and other hard to get at places. Name almost any metalworking plant and you find a potential field for power filing.
